When you can't wait until morning

Some plumbing problems don't care what time it is. A burst pipe flooding your kitchen, the smell of gas through the house, a blocked sewer backing up into the bathroom -- these situations need a plumber now, not tomorrow morning.

Coastal Ways provides genuine 24/7 emergency plumbing across the Central Coast. When you call, you get Beau directly -- not an answering service, not a call centre. He'll talk you through what to do immediately (like shutting off your water main) and get to your property as quickly as possible.

With over 10 years of experience handling urgent call-outs, Beau carries the equipment needed to diagnose and resolve most emergencies on the first visit. That includes thermal imaging to find hidden leaks behind walls, CCTV drain cameras to locate blockages underground, and high-pressure jetters to clear severe sewer blockages.

We understand that an emergency at 11pm is stressful enough without worrying about being overcharged. You'll get a clear explanation of the problem, what needs to happen, and what it will cost before any work starts. No surprises.

Common emergencies we handle

Burst pipes and water main breaks
Gas leaks and gas smell investigations
Blocked sewers and overflowing drains
Flooding from failed fixtures or appliances
No hot water (when you need it urgently)
Leaking roof plumbing during storms
Overflowing or blocked toilets
Broken or seized tap valves

What to do while you wait

Burst pipe or leak: Turn off your water at the main stopcock (usually near your water meter at the front boundary). Open a tap at the lowest point in the house to drain remaining pressure.

Gas smell: Do not use light switches, electrical appliances, or open flames. Open windows and doors, turn off the gas at the meter if you can safely reach it, and move everyone outside. Call us from outside the house.

Blocked sewer: Stop using water in the house -- no flushing toilets, no running taps. If sewage is backing up, keep clear and ventilate the area.

Flooding: If safe to do so, turn off the water main and the electricity to affected areas at your switchboard. Move valuables to higher ground and take photos for insurance.

Emergency vs regular booking

Not every plumbing issue is a true emergency. A slowly dripping tap or a slightly running toilet can usually wait for a regular appointment during business hours. You'll save on after-hours rates and we can give the job proper attention.

Call for an emergency when: there's active flooding, you smell gas, sewage is backing up, you have no water supply, or the problem is causing (or about to cause) damage to your property. If you're not sure, call anyway -- Beau will tell you honestly whether it needs immediate attention or can wait.
