Gas leaks are serious. If you can smell gas (that distinctive rotten-egg odour), take these steps immediately:
1. Don't touch electrical switches -- don't turn lights on or off, don't use appliances, don't plug anything in. A spark can ignite leaked gas.
2. Open doors and windows -- ventilate the area to disperse the gas.
3. Turn off gas at the meter -- if you can safely reach your gas meter, turn the valve to the off position (perpendicular to the pipe).
4. Move everyone outside -- including pets. Call us from outside the property.
